ACT occupies a beautiful and large physical space called the Villa Atelier (“Estate”), originally built by the famous Despic family as a summer estate and sculpting atelier for Iva Despic-Simonovic. Iva was one of the most prominent Balkan women artists and activists, she was also the first female sculptor in the Balkans. For the past 100 years, the Estate has been a gathering place of leading artists, actors, sports figures, activists, and others who defined the culture, turbulence, and charm of the region. ACT vision for the Estate is to revitalize that practice and provide a physical space for activists and artists to create, learn, organize, network, and recharge. Our vision is to create a movement of progressive powerful voices that can restore Bosnia as a land of equality, opportunity, sustainability and climate justice, democratic civic society, and the rule of law. This program is considered to be a great opportunity for us to learn how to construct a vibrant, progressive, inclusive and sustainable platform based on radical collaboration for change makers of BiH. We need a structural support in building and bringing to life this platform and community and are eager to learn from others.
